COAL CREEK DAYS

 

          The 27th Annual Coal Creek Days will be held Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, September 3-5 at the Coal Creek Village at the northeast side of Pana Tri County Fairgrounds.   Demonstrators and traders will be encamped, with blacksmithing, Indian tepees, pioneer camping lifestyles, Betty's Rugs, hearth cooking demonstrations, woodworking, leather making, crocheting, hand sewing, and a whole lot more. Bake sale Saturday includes homemade jams and jellies from fruit grown at the village and pioneer guild members' gardens.   

          Ham and bean supper 4-6:30 p.m. Saturday; chicken noodles dinner 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday; pioneer church service at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.   The setting includes four mid-1800s furnished log buildings from three counties.   Steve Clark's Rural Right Revival Band will play at dusk on Friday and Saturday.   The event is in conjunction with Pana Tri County Fair, with $1 per person (over age 12) admission charged at the Fair Gate by the Fair Association. Sponsor is Pana Pioneer Heritage Guild, NFP organization. Proceeds go toward maintenance of the historical buildings.
