City of Pana

PANA CITY WIDE SPRING CLEAN-UP

The Annual Pana Spring Clean-up is scheduled for Saturday May 10, 2008.     Residents, property owners, and businesses are encouraged to “Tidy-Up” after the long Winter as well as catch up with those fast growing Spring weeds.

The City of Pana will provide dumpsters to City residents only, on clean-up day.   The dumpsters will be located at the Pana City Garage on the corner of Elm and Almond Streets.   They will be available on a first come first serve basis as collection will begin at 7:00 a.m. and end at noon or when the container limit is met.     No yard waste, no tires, no household garbage will be taken.

The clean up effort goes beyond individuals and business as Clubs and Organizations are asked to join the effort.     Various areas in and around Pana can be selected for group clean up efforts.   A group is being sought to coordinate the Downtown Pana Clean up, slated for the evenings of Monday May 12, 2008 and Tuesday May 13, 2008.  Contact the Pana Chamber Office at 562-4240 for a list of other areas available.    It is also suggested that residents check with neighbors that might need some help in their own clean up effort.

With three major highways going through Pana taking traffic to Lake Shelbyville, the Lincoln Sites in Springfield, the new Lincoln Library, Amish Country, the Vandalia-Lake Carlyle Area, the wide use of Kitchell Park and various other Spring visitors it is a benefit to present Pana as a clean Community.     Clean makes a statement that also says “Welcome, stay a while, an hour, a day, week or a lifetime”  A clean, attractive community is not only a more pleasant place to live, but the value of the good impression it makes on prospective employers, professionals, and others who visit the Pana Area should never be underestimated.    Economic surveys state that a clean community does attract more business and industry.
